UniWeb is a platform created as a part of intelliWeb, specifically used for the management of the University of Granada web sites.

The previous version, 1.0, of UniWeb, was conceived to work in environments with no databases but with a high load of requests. This version has been released and it is available in forja:UniWeb. The 2.0 version is, for the time being, strictly commercial software.

The own characteristics of intelliWeb turn it into an ideal platform for corporative sites, what we know as multiplatform, because it enables to place different web sites with own characteristics, different users, etc., and keep them integrated at the same time.

UniWeb enables to maintain the web sites of all the offices, departments, schools, vice-chancellorships, etc., of the University, as well as the main site of the University and any other specific web element (for instance, a portal specialized in the access to the University and students gaining).

All the sites are integrated into an UniWeb platform and they share part of the information even though they would be placed in a different sever. UniWeb enables to distribute the load between different servers, scaling down or up the load to cover the demand of any corporation.

With Uniweb, each site is able to have an own image, but this image can be integrated with the corporative image of the University. Thus, a common image is kept while the different bodies of the University are provided with personality.

Uniweb integrates the information of all these sites: enables to establish a common browser for all the sites of the corporation, share data about faculties, grades, departments, etc. In this sense, any change occurred in any body will be immediately spread to the others.

UniWeb includes packages for syllabus management, faculties records, diagrams and other needs for any particular web. At the same time, UniWeb has all the intelliWeb tools, such as the contact forms.

Finally, UniWeb enables shared management in the web sites: each person who is responsible for a part can manage and update the information, without acceding to the rest of the information. Besides, UniWeb enables the users to have private zones. This option, for instance, enables the members of a department executive board to share documents and communicate themselves using web tools.

Intelliweb has been successfully used in many scenes. Uniweb, as a development about intelliweb, has been used in different environments and it has proved the great capacities of the product.

The University of Granada has changed the place of the web system of its main page (and the main page of all the vice-chancellorships and main services) to the intelliWeb system. Currently, a lot departments and offices of this institution are changing the place of their web systems. The package on which their systems are executed is known as UniWeb. It includes units that have been modified for the needs of the University.
\\Nowadays, there are more than 25 platforms (web sites) of the UGR that are included in this system. Each of one has its characteristics, personalizations and different aspects, but all of them have the possibility of sharing information, linking automatically between themselves, etc. Moreover, a lot of offices of the UGR, departments and other bodies are joining UniWeb system to have all these advantages.

The system is configured with a farm 5 linux servers that share the database system (MySQL in a replication mode, with a master and 4 slaves) and the web servers (Apache + PHP5). These servers share equally the load of all the platforms that are executed on them. Some of the platforms are executed on independent servers, that share the database with the main farm or execute their own database server.

IntelliWeb system enables to adapt completely, work in a shared way and share the information if it is shared with the main database or with different databases.
